Shame, Shame, Shame

Shame, Shame, Shame originally started when I was having a mental block. I just couldn't get any lyrics out. I decided I would just try to write about not being able to write. It all changed when the word religion popped out of my mouth. I had my topic, and a wave of frustration followed. I consider Shame, Shame, Shame to be one of my best songs lyrically. Not because I think the words are well said, but because it's a song where I feel like I completed my idea, and said what I needed to say.

Patterns

Patterns is song that came very quickly. It's about how we often create patterns in our relationships that can cause problems. This song is a little abstract, and probably not at the top of my catalog, but I enjoy it just the same.

For the Grave

For the Grave is a fairly simple song. It's about regret, and wanting to change those regrets. The older we become, the wiser we become (hopefully). We're all heading for the grave, so change, or make right those regrets while you can.

Answers

A little over a year ago, my grandfather had a stroke and passed away. During the time he was sick I would pray for him. It's hard when we pray for things and they don't turn out the way we planned. I wrote "Answers" around the idea that God does answer prayer. Sometimes we just don't like the answer that we get.
